Not Ready to Say Goodbye to Summer

If you can't tell from my last few blog posts, we aren't ready to say goodbye to summer quite yet. So, another fun weekend was had. We spent most of it participating in events at the annual Summerset Festival in Littleton.

Fireworks & Hot Air Balloons

Friday night was a chilly 50 degrees so we bundled up and enjoyed watching hot air balloons come-to-life and an always-amazing fireworks show.

Wild West Auto Fest

The Summerset Festival also had its annual Wild West Auto Fest car show on Saturday in which approx. 500 cars participated, with David's truck being one of those. He used the opportunity to promote Buchtel Motors and talk to those community members who stopped by.

Michael and I had some fun with our reflection in David's wheels.

Fun at the Park

Michael and I could only last so long at the car show so we took a walk and enjoyed the park nearby. I tried to get creative with my photography to truly capture how much fun little boy was having.

And Michael made out like a bandit at the festival - we visited the Radio Disney booth and the "Frozen" lover in Michael was ecstatic with the giveaways.

Fishing Derby

On Sunday morning we entered Michael into the "5 & Under" category at Summerset Festival's annual fishing derby. We weren't as lucky as his first fishing trip because we caught nothing, but we did witness the 1st place "catch" and had fun hanging as a family on this beautiful day.

And who caught the biggest fish at the derby? This father/son duo - a 27-inch carp.

So with no fish I suggested we head home but David suggested we hang around and see who won in the different age categories, and boy, am I glad we did! Turns out that only one of the four kids in the "5 & Under" category actually caught a fish (and a little girl no less!). So, they did a random drawing for 2nd and 3rd place... and Michael got 3rd! He confidently went up to the front, shook the hosts hand and when asked what color he liked said red. He walked away with a free red fishing rod and a bag full of tackle and coupons. He was SO happy and SO proud of himself.

Walking away after just receiving his 3rd place prize.

And thanks to David who really tried to help Michael catch a fish. He was bummed he couldn't catch one but tried diligently for 3 hours - thanks for being such a great Dad honey!

It was a wonderful family-filled weekend and on Saturday night we also got to spend time with our friends/Michael friends at the park. Michael enjoyed spending time with his besties, Maya and Noble.
