Our Little Boy Turns 3!

Although his birthday is technically at midnight tonight, we celebrated early.

Wow. It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming our sweet Michael James into this world at 12:33 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day three year's ago. It's been an amazing journey to watch our baby blossom into a little boy with a loving, funny and sweet personality who can befriend any stranger with just a smile. He is everything we could have dreamed for and more, and we thank our lucky stars everyday for this little family we've made.

His third birthday was amazing and I'm not sure we'll ever be able to top it. He had a very fun birthday party with all his little friends, his Auggie and Poppa came into town, he now has a big boy room just for him that he had NO idea about and a brand new "park" (as he calls it - aka a swing set) from his Auggie and Poppa.

Then it was party room time for pizza, cupcakes and presents!

Michael blew out his three candles like a champ, and LOVED his Disney's "Planes" cake (which was the theme of the party).

But what he really wanted was the plane on the top of the cake.

Time to open presents! He got SO many great gifts from his friends - it's clear they know him well!

And they LOVED their balloons - each kid got one.

And Michael's one and only babysitter Sandy joined-in on the fun too! Michael was so happy she came!

Next - The Family Birthday Party

Michael was SO lucky to have his Auggie, Poppa and Auntie Em over for his family birthday party.

Aunt Deborah got Michael a "Band in a Box" and oh yes, we had an impromptu jam session :-)

Michael's reaction to his brand new big boy room. David worked tirelessly on this and it turned out fantastic. It's airplane-themed and he now has bunk bed's!

And to top it off, Michael's reaction to his new "park" (aka swing set) courtesy of Auggie and Poppa. David, our friend Ryan and Poppa all took part in putting this together and Michael will enjoy this for year's to come!

Michael is one fortune, loved three year old. Right now he is asleep in his new big boy bed so hopefully it's a quiet night for us and he awakes happy. Tomorrow morning David will be taking him to breakfast and then we plan to take him to his favorite, Little CiCi's for dinner - who doesn't love a pizza buffet - for his actual day, Nov. 24.
