Well believe it or not, I am already 36 weeks pregnant with our little baby girl. And since we welcomed a precious boy named Michael into this world at 36 weeks, we've packed the hospital bag and are getting ready for her arrival.
But that hasn't stopped us from having some fun in the meantime...
"Take Your Child to Work Day"
We've always enjoyed taking advantage of "Take Your Child to Work Day;" little Michael has benefitted from it annually. This year he came with Mommy to work where he decorated a hard hat, learned about safety from Louie the Lightning Bug. among other things, and was dressed for the occasion to head to a corporate office downtown. Then he got to hang with the boys and work on cars in the afternoon. I love that he will grow up with very diverse perspectives...

And then, he became a "tech" at Buchtel Motors with Daddy.
Please Note: No customer cars were damaged in the taking of this picture -- he he. |
Weekend adventures are abound
In typical Estes family fashion we like to leverage every minute we have together as a family - who doesn't?! So, this weekend we went swimming, went to a car show or two (surprise, surprise) and had some good eats.
| My boys at IKEA. Michael asked me to take this and the next picture - such a photogenic boy when he wants to be. |
| This kid LOVES fried okra, and who can blame him?! Yum yum. |
| At one of the car shows, the Colorado Batmobile was there and the owner let Michael put on the "mask" - dreams came true that very moment for one Batman-loving boy... |
| Michael also went to a swimming party with his buddy Merritt. He is the boy that just landed in the water. |
| And here he is mid-air jumping (LOVES to jump into the water) - belly flop here we come. |
| This outfit was completely brought to you by... Michael James. He loves to dress himself and as you can see, is very proud of his fashion skills. |
| Mommy took Michael on a surprise ice cream date Friday after school to Cold Stone Creamery. It was his first time there and he loved it SO much, we had to bring back Daddy back on Saturday so he could try it too (which we did - yum yum). |
| Be weary of toy aisles, Michael loves to try on EVERY superhero mask he can get his hands on. Here he is doing the "Hulk Smash" |
It's all about the customer
Buchtel Motors continues to be a dream come true for David, and I think Michael too as he is always eager to go to Daddy's shop. We have big plans for the summer as we've been invited to be a vendor in the highly-popular community Farmer's Markets and host our very own car show on June 21! We will also be active in other community events that draw quite the crowd.
As for now, we have switched out the hot chocolate for popcorn given the weather is warming up and now every customer is thanked for "poppin' in." David has also had the opportunity lately to work on some pretty cool classics.
Check it out:

| David made this flyer for our 1st annual Classic Car Show - awesome right? We've received lots of compliments as we've handed these out. Here's hoping for a good showing... |
| Every customer gets a popcorn bag and customer survey upon picking their car up. It's our little way of saying thank you. |
| If you ever wonder what we're doing Sunday nights, it's making hot chocolate or popcorn ;) |
