So, we went to Golden Gate State Park in Golden, Colo. and hiked the Raccoon and Mule Deer trails at Panorama Point. The three-mile trail was harder than we had remembered with A LOT of uphill climbs, but it was picturesque and as Michael will tell you, he is now a bonified "Mountain Hiker" (although thanks to Grandpa, he did a lot of "hiking" in a backpack - thanks Grandpa!). But nevertheless, he had a great time as did I, David's Dad and David - it was a great way to kick-off the holiday.

Since David's Dad's in town for about a month to help David with his new business, we're taking the opportunity to take him on adventures and to events he's never been to before. The hike was one and the Renaissance Festival was another - which we went to last weekend. You can do some serious people watching here - wowee.
While we did A LOT of people watching, we also caught a "danger show" and watched some jousting competitions. Michael had a blast.

I didn't do a very good job capturing pictures from the fireworks shows we went to, but we went to two separate events to view fireworks and also had our own show at home with tanks, chickens, race cars, motorcycles and more.
It's been a wonderful holiday weekend but it's not over yet ... more pictures to come of our other family adventures. Until then, happy 4th everyone!
