4 Weeks & Having Lots of Fun!

Adventure Friday's

Prior to welcoming Hailey and beginning my "leave" from work, I made a promise that every Friday I'd do something fun with Michael, and beginning my first week out of the hospital, "Adventure Friday's" was born. So far we've gone to the aquarium, to movies ("Inside Out" this week, "Mary Poppins" last week, "Night at the Museum" the week prior and finally, "Land Before Time" three-or-so weeks ago), Lakeside Amusement Park and today we went hiking, biking and fishing. Here are some pictures from our many Friday adventures... so far.

Took Michael to the Natural History Museum - similar to the one in "Night at the Museum" and Michael played with everything he was allowed to, and was convinced everything came alive in the museum at night (like the movie).

I kid you not that every summer group was at the museum this day, but while I wasn't a fan of the crowds, Michael loved how many kids were around for him to play with.

Excited to see and hold his first meteor.

He had a blast in the space section of the museum's toddler play area. Here and below he is using a pronged tool to pick-up "meteors."

Finally got one!

He LOVES dinosaurs these days - can you find him in this picture? I was instructed to make sure I got the whole dinosaur in this picture.

Remember these? The funny thing was that on the other side people were pushing their faces through, hands, etc. He had a lot of fun with this.

Always up for a slide...

The highlight of the museum visit? The FREE T-Rex exhibit. Next time we'll visit the lobby and head home ;-)

Mommy and Michael beginning our hike on the S. Platte River.

Check out that dandelion!

Hope he didn't make a wish... one blow wasn't going to do it for these monsters.

Found a good fishing spot... no fish, but it may have been because I was the one helping him. David's a pro and so far, every time David takes Michael fishing he catches fish. Oh well.

Hailey wanted to play too on our hike, bike, fishing trip.

Somehow I ended-up pushing two babies and a bike back to the car as someone was tuckered out.

Father's Day was a Special Day for David & Buchtel Motors

This Father's Day was our first annual Classic Car Show, so it became especially important to David as he hoped his first show would be a success... and boy was it. There were 60 cars that registered and hundreds of attendees - it went over very well and folks are already asking when his next show will be. Some of the biggest hits were the shirts David designed and the trophies that he made from scratch. Very proud of him and so glad this year was one of the best Father's Day's yet.

Here are some pictures from the event:

Starting his day off right, with his new baby girl.

Michael made him a sweet present - "just daddy" and "bacon" are my favorite answers.

The very popular car show with a diverse set of classics.

David's custom classics.

Check out the new Buchtel Motors logo on his truck!

Here are the four trophies he made by hand with old car parts and a welder.

David presented each winner with their trophy. Categories were "Best in Show," "People's Choice," (where we had more than 200 votes), "Work in Progress" and "Most Unique."

This guy won for "Most Unique" with an old Toyota Corona.

Spending Time as a Family

We have and will always leverage every moment we have together as a family and Hailey has come along for the ride. We've attended some fun events, gone hiking and just had fun at home too!

David's family also came to visit and spent almost two weeks with us. We took them hiking, to some new restaurants, shopping and more. It was great having them in town and Michael and Hailey miss them already.

He wants to hold her all the time - this time he slept with his hand on her ear... so cute.

This is my view every morning as I'm getting ready to take Michael to swim lessons.

My little Colorado hiker - he loves hiking.

We ran across a Fire Muster event and had a blast at this impromptu outing.

Rockin' the fire hat.

David and Michael got to ride an actual fire truck around the block; they both loved it.

Such a happy boy when the ride was over.

Our new little family waiting for one of the fire demonstrations to begin, and Hailey was asleep which is why she's in her car seat for those wondering...

Michael got to play with a real fire hose!

And play with water, and what kid doesn't love to play with water?!

David being goofy and hands full at dinner one night.

Then, we traded off...

Their first bath together. Hailey wasn't so sure but Michael loved it.

Such a good big brother.

Singing Hailey "you are my sunshine" - his/I song.

Just playing in my room with baby Hailey - wide eyed and beautiful.

David's family offered to watch the babies and David and I enjoyed a date night to a Rockies game.

One month old already... wow has time flown.

Saw this at a garage sale and couldn't resist - he loves it.

Next-Up, Florida & T-Ball

Michael finished his soccer season and now it's time for t-ball, which he'll be playing with his buddies Jacob and Nash beginning in mid-July. We will work on his smile between now and then...

We will also be heading to Florida to introduce Hailey Ann to family in late-July.
